Brownshill Dolmen is a very large megalithic portal tomb in County Carlow, Ireland. Its capstone weighs an estimated 100 metric tons, and is reputed to be the heaviest in Europe.
Overall Paper Size: 29 cm wide X 20 cm high. Drawing Size: 26 cm wide X 15 cm high.
A dolmen usually consists of two or more vertical stones supporting a large flat horizontal capstone or “table”. Most date from the early Neolithic (4000–3000 BC). They are generally all regarded as tombs or burial chambers, despite the absence of clear evidence for this.
