“ Karin depicts the vitality , force , strength and the sensitivity of nature that is in her works”
Karin Ahern Jansen was born in the Netherlands. She studied in Enschede and Amsterdam gaining a B.A. in Monumental Art and Painting and an M.A. in Art History and Contemporary art. For the past ten years she has lived in beautiful Ringabella close to Kinsale Co. Cork with her Irish husband and daughter.
Her paintings are based on traditional genres such as landscape, flowers, and portrait. She favours minimalism and has an intuitive expressionism style using many layers of acrylic paint. Karin likes to call it the skin of the painting built up over time, giving each painting and work of art its own history of skin.
Moving to Ireland and living beside the Ocean with its force, strength and sensitivity has had a big influence on Karin and became a source of wonderful inspiration; translated into abstraction with amazing translucent colours, the greys the blues, the greens on a windy day over the ocean. The sun over the Irish landscape.
Karin’s works are in Irish, Dutch and English Collections.
