Original oil on hardwood painting of the Boars Head on Capel street. This is one of my most impressionistic oil paintings to date, painted on a gesso primed hardwood panel largely using a flathead brush. A lot of the detail in the brushwork seem's to have been lost in the overall picture due to the limitations of smartphone photography so I've included a close up view below.
In this painting I was trying to capture the daily activity in Dublins north inner city in early March. The pub was not intended to be the main subject matter but it stands out so much it became that, good pub anyway so I don't mind.
