I set up this still life arrangement in a deep wide windowsill on a bright cloudy day, this gave a wonderful effect of the white light wrapping around the objects subduing their bright colours and forms. For this painting I combined the firm waxy consistency of Winsor and Newton Oilbars with Royal Talens Cobra oil paint creating a thick textured paint which was applied broadly and expressively with brushes and palette knives.
