About the Artist
My work is best described as narrative, I love to tell the story visually. Many of the tales which inspire my work, from Irish legends to fairy tales, from Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet to Emily Bronte’s Heathcliff and Cathy, encapsulate the drama of life and of passion. These stories have a resonance for all age groups young and old.
I am a painter and printmaker and work from my studio in Kilcock, Co. Kildare. Having an interest in medieval manuscripts and early Christian art has influenced my approach to image making and I frequently use gold and silver leaf in my work, most particularly on pieces that relate to ancient legends. I work in oil, acrylic, ink, pencil and varying print techniques.
My work is in state collections including DIAS, OPW, HSE, Kildare Municipal Art Collection as well as private collections worldwide.
