About the Artist
I am a full-time Irish artist living and working out of my studio in the picturesque East Cork. My work and approach might be considered unorthodox, abstract, contemporary or it might not!. But either way, I am drawn (excuse the pun) to a vibrant colourful palette as I feel this represents the overall positive, good feeling atmosphere I am trying to portray in all my artworks.
I like to paint mostly large scale artworks, as I feel sometimes I am guided by the quote “Bigger is better”.
I think painting large scale with “my style” and what I want my art to represent enhances and impacts a wall space more, while also allowing every viewer to spend more time looking at the piece, reflecting upon the theme and meaning within each piece.
I paint on a smaller scale too though!
The source of my creativity and inspiration comes from a wealth of influences that mainly include nature, my garden, horses & wildlife, past life in music and street art. A funny unusual mix I know…but exploring and contemplating each of these themes is what makes painting in my own individual art style enjoyable and exciting for me.
I mostly work in Acrylics, spray paint, and a few other different materials. I paint both rolled and stretched canvasses and custom-made wood panels which gives me the freedom to select a particular size I need.
I have sold several pieces to private collectors all across Ireland and I have a permanent piece on display in Gallagher’s Pub Cork City. I have exhibited twice at The Shanagarry Design Centre and most recently had the opportunity for a solo exhibit at Lishh Café in Cork City. I have also received acclaim for my artwork from Irish UFC Star Conor McGregor and award-winning actor Tom Vaughn Lawlor. And I have to mention in 1993 I came first in the local Credit Union Art Competition!
