About the Artist
Gilly Thomas is a figurative sculptor from Kent who has been living and working in Ireland for over 20 years. Whilst raising her family she joined the Open College of the Arts, took classes in portrait sculpture and worked part time in a foundry, eventually taking herself to The Frink School of Figurative Sculpture at the age of 50. Over the past 15 years Gilly has experimented with many materials and forms, finally realising that she most enjoys creating bronze sculpture for the country home. Having always lived in the countryside, she observes the local wildlife seeking to capture the essence of the form, beit horse, bird or fish. Gilly has also been commissioned to create both human and pet portraits.
