About the Artist
Maurice Pierse has worked as an artist and illustrator for over twenty five years. A graduate of Dun Laoghaire Institute of Art and Design where he studied design and illustration. He also studied at Limerick College of Art and did courses on life drawing and painting in the National College of Art and Design.
He likes working mostly with oil, watercolour and acrylic on canvas. He also likes developing illustrations into prints using detailed pencil drawings as a basis.
He has developed a wide variety of skills including drawing, inking, painting in oil, acrylic, watercolour and gouache.
As an artist he has sold original oil paintings through Adams and DeVeers auctioneers. He has had two solo exhibitions through St Johns Theatre and Art Centre and The Seanchai: Kerry Writers Museum in Listowel, Co Kerry. He has taken part in a number of group exhibitions around the country including five years at the ‘Art in Action’ festival at Townley Hall, Drogheda; ‘Shakin’ that Art; a group exhibition in the Gresham Hotel, Dublin.
