About the Artist
A self taught artist. I have been painting and sketching for many years. My main choice of medium is watercolours. I find it suits my personality. My style has evolved slowly but progressively over the years and i’m happy where i’m at now. My work is mostly landscapes. I believe in working outdoors to capture the real essence of painting: ‘plein-air’ (French term). I’ll always sketch at the scene and work a preliminary watercolour sketch, even if it’s simplistic, it’s my ‘diary recording’. My watercolours are methodically planned out, especially my palette. Irish landscape colours are a real challenge.
I’ve shown my work art galleries over the years including: Framework Gallery Dun Laoghaire. Co. Dublin. Guinness Gallery Foxrock.Co. Dublin. Kilternan Arts Enniskerry Rd, Co. Dublin. I have worked with Hugh Oram author, historian and broadcaster from RTE radio programme: ‘Seascapes’ working on illustrations (drawings) for many of the ‘Little book series, Inc; Little Book of Stillorgan. Little Book of Merrion & Booterstown’. ‘Little Book of Blackrock’. I also work in conjunction with The History Press of Ireland.
