About the Artist
I am an Irish artist based in County Tyrone in the North of Ireland. In 2015, I graduated from University College Dublin with a degree in Biomedical Engineering. This degree enabled me to apply my design skills to medical device design. I take an abstract approach to solving medical issues and have worked on an extensive list of design projects such as hip replacements for Johnson and Johnson as well as 3D printed prostheses for children in India.
My job as an Engineer within the medical device and pharmaceutical sectors has involved extensive travelling over the last few years. I have worked on projects in countries such as Germany, Italy, The Netherlands and the USA to name a few. I always try to spend any free time I have when travelling to absorb the local atmosphere and engage with the local culture. My experiences travelling from a young age has left an indelible impression on me and spurred creative energy that I can interpret into art forms. I have exhibited works in Ireland, UK, USA and India as well as participating in various open call art competitions.
I would define my art as ever evolving and inspired by life experiences. I feel an affinity to nature and seek to express the vividness of its myriad of changing colours and forms. I strive to not become stuck in a single style and subject but instead continuously expand into new territories. I typically use acrylic paints, oil paints and spray paints to create my artworks but I have also recently created mixed media pieces incorporating other materials. I seek to employ vivid lines and brushstrokes to emphasise the dynamic movements of his subjects.
As you may see from my portfolio, I often use intense colours against a black background which seeks to place emphasis on the subject and the power of movement. Movement is a recurring theme within a lot of my artworks including people and animals. I have a deep empathy for animals and I try place a particular emphasis on the eyes when painting.
My artworks are held in numerous private art collections around the world. I have provided paintings to a number of businesses including hospitals, hotels, restaurants, yoga studios and gyms. I have also worked on an extensive number of commission projects including murals for orphanages and hospitals in India as well as book covers.
