I am a plein air painter working in both oil and watercolour. I enjoy the spontaneity of working out of doors; the urgency of getting the subject down before the light changes, capturing the mood and a moment in time. I like to work wet in wet with both mediums, pushing and pulling the liquid paint with strong brush strokes to achieve the end result.

I have had many solo exhibitions of my work in Ireland, England and France and participated in numerous mixed exhibitions including at the Mall Galleries, London, Harrods Picture Gallery, The Museum of Garden History and The World of Watercolours and Drawings, London. I have been commissioned to produce a painting for one of the Royal Households and sponsored on a touring exhibition of Great Britain by Saab GB. In 2001 my wife and I relocated to the south west of France where I established an Atelier and exhibited with several Salons including at Toulouse, Albi and Montauban and received several awards for my work. In 2005 I published a book of my travels in France and several articles on my painting style have featured in international art magazines. Since returning to Ireland I have become a member of The Water Colour Society of Ireland and the Dublin Painting and Sketching Club and have exhibited several times with the United Society of Artists at the Bankside Gallery in London. I am a regular exhibitor at the Wexford Festival Opera fringe event and my work is held in many private and corporate collections.

A love of colour and a fluid tactile use of paint are the hallmark of my painting style which moves between landscape, still life and figurative work in an impressionistic manner.
