Sunburst over Limerick Oil landscape painting on board, 24x28in The brilliant light demanded a bold application of colour, much of the paint has been applied thickly with a palette knife and manipulated with brushes, creating a dramatic pattern of light and shadow in the clouds. The details of the city and bridge are lost into silhouette while the ripples of the river mirror the colours in the sky. “The Word gave life to everything that was created, and his life brought light to everyone. The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness can never extinguish it.” John 1:4-5   This painting is on an mdf board which has been sealed and gessoed before paint application. As there is no grain the board is resistant to warping. I use Royal Talens Cobra and Micheal Harding brand oil paints they give fantastic colour and clarity with lightfast pigments.
